Mission and History
Our Mission
To provide expert, high quality and effective community neuropsychological rehabilitation to children, young people and their families. Our service aims to produce the best possible outcome for the child or young person with a neurological disability, by working within their home, school, family and friendship group.
History
Recolo UK Ltd's founders are three clinical psychologists (Reed, Fine and Byard) with specialist knowledge and extensive experience of child neuropsychology.
We set up Recolo as a means of working thoughtfully and creatively, focusing always on providing quality and the best possible outcome for the child and their family. Our experience and the latest research shows that children make the most improvement while learning at home, among friends, family and their familiar surroundings.
We found that traditional services for children with a neurological disability took them to an institution away from their normal life, and that lessons learnt in rehab had to be relearnt once they returned home. We set up Recolo so that we could work with children and young people in their own community, where the progress made will last.
We also recognise that the child is not the only one to suffer following a traumatic brain injury. We wanted to support the family in its new role of care, providing psychological support for families as they adjust to the brain injury and what it means for their lives.
