Sophie Gosling
Sophie has held a number of clinical posts since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 1993 but all working with children, families and young people. She has worked in child mental health and community settings and in the paediatric field. During that time, she has also supervised several clinical psychology trainees on placement.
When Sophie worked in Brussels, she worked with the Community Help Service (CHS), a not-for profit, mental health service for the English-speaking community. Within the Children's Department, she worked independently, seeing children and families for in-depth psycho-educational assessments, therapy and consultations. She also helped secure funds for the service, made links with the international schools, interviewed, supervised and mentored new staff and represented the children's services in a service improvement initiative.
Her present focus for clinical work is working with children and their families for a broad range of presenting problems, including neuropsychological developmental issues and those relating to acquired and traumatic brain injury. As part of this, a wide range of cognitive and other assessments are used as appropriate.
Sophie is currently an Associate Clinical Tutor for the Royal Holloway Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programme. Also, in association with CHIVA in South Africa, Sophie consults and supports staff working with children and families affected by HIV.
