Dr Emma Sands
Chartered Clinical Psychologist
Emma Sands is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist who has held posts as a psychologist since 1995. She has specialised as a Paediatric Clinical Psychologist in London at Guy's Hospital, St. Thomas' Hospital, Evelina Children's Hospital, and Central Middlesex Hospital, working with children with acute and chronic medical and neurological conditions, and their families. Emma is the lead psychologist in a busy paediatric department providing clinical care, consultation and teaching. She also has considerable experience working in a child and adolescent mental health service with children and families affected by illness or disability.
Emma has undertaken further postgraduate training in systemic family therapy. She has a keen interest in the effects of chronic illness and sudden or traumatic illness and injury on families, and has developed expertise in using family based interventions with families affected by brain injury.
Emma has written and lectured on aspects related to developmental and paediatric clinical psychology and is involved in regular teaching with health care professionals.
