Rehabilitation
Following a child having a brain injury, we recognise how a child's and family's world is turned upside down and all parts of the child's world is affected including at home and school, with their friends and in the community. Based on the PEDs model, the rehabilitation assessment collects information about the child's history, cognitive, academic, behavioural, social and emotional functioning, and quality of life. The assessment also explores in the child and family, the levels of stress and adjustment, development of coping skills and community reintegration. This information is gathered through meetings with the child, family and school, liaison with professionals in the statutory and voluntary sector as appropriate and via standardised tests and questionnaires. This assessment process culminates in a rehabilitation assessment report with recommendations to help and support the child and family.
