Child Neuropsychology
Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour and cognition (mental processes). Psychologists use this to help people to understand and change their behaviour. Neuropsychology is a specialised area of psychology which looks specifically at how the brain affects behaviour. Child Neuropsychologists have specialised training and experience in understanding how brains develop and work and how they influence behaviour.
We use these ideas to understand the impact of a child's brain injury on their everyday lives and to promote the development of emotional, social, behavioural and cognitive functioning. We also use these theories to work individually with the child or with parents and teachers, providing support and advice around cognitive rehabilitation and behavioural management at home and school.
