Assessment

We realise how devastating a child’s brain injury can be to the family with its repercussions effecting home life, friendships and education.

To determine the best way to help, we’ll undertake an initial rehabilitation assessment.

During the assessment we collect information about your child’s history – cognitive, academic, behavioural, social and emotional functioning, and their quality of life. The assessment will also explore the whole family – their levels of stress and adjustment, their development of coping skills and their reintegration in the community.

Additional information is gathered by holding meetings with staff in the child’s school, appropriate liaisons with professionals in the statutory and voluntary sector and through standardised tests and questionnaires.

This process leads to a rehabilitation assessment report with recommendations on how to support your child and family. Following the assessment we’ll work in a number of different ways. For more details please see the Our services section.
